Location: From the ferry terminal at the town of Powell River (142 km./85 mi. north of the city of Vancouver), follow Highway #101 south to Lang Bay (16 km./10 mi.) and then turn north along a gravel logging road for 26 km. (16.2 mi.). The good gravel road will take you past Nanton and Ireland lakes and then on to Dodd Lake which is on the east side of the road.

Resorts & Campsites: There is a BCFS campsite and boat launch facility at Dodd Lake as well as at nearby Nanton, Lewis and Windsor lakes. Full facilities, services and accommodations are available at Powell River 42 km. (26 mi.) to the southwest.

Fishing Report: Average size for Cutthroat is around 1/2-1 lb. however much larger have been caught. Good fishing is reported at the south end of the lake at the outlet to Ireland Lake. Trolling small lures and spinning gear as well as fly fishing are all used successfully.

Viewscape: Fairly steep hills forested with Douglas fir, cedar and hemlock, surround the lake.

Shoreline: There is a mixture of conifers and deciduous trees along the lake edge as well as rock bluffs, reedy areas and beaches.

Nearby Lakes

Lewis Lake - Lewis Lake is located east of Dodd and a 4x4 is recommended to get to the lake. 59 ha. (146 ac.) in size, Lewis supports a good Cutthroat fishery for trout up to 1-1/2 lbs. Campsites can be found at Dodd and Ireland Lakes.

Windsor Lake - Windsor Lake is 87 ha. (215 ac.) in size and lies just north of Dodd at an elevation of 185 m. (607 ft.). It contains good numbers of smaller Cutthroat and is considered to be an excellent fly fishing lake especially during early spring Chironomid hatches. BCFS campsites can be found at the north and south ends of the lake.

Goat Lake - Goat Lake is a large lake of 410 ha. (1013 ac.) and is found lying just north of Windsor. This beautiful lake contains Cutthroat, Rainbow, Kokanee and Dolly Varden. Cutthroat over 4 lbs. have been caught but are rare. BCFS campsites and boat launching are available.
